FOR THE SERIOUS CENTURY 21 COLLECTOR--2 DIFFERENT "FLIGHT' BAGS #C21102

THIS IS A VERY UNUSUAL OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE TWO VERY DIFFERENT YET SIMILAR VINYL 'FLIGHT' BAGS FROM THE 1962 CENTURY 21 EXPOSITION.
The larger bag was a giveaway for special clients from the Richfield Company....known at the time as Atlantic Richfield Company. Today of course, 58 years later, the company is very much around even if the name is different and the logo is long gone. Today it is of course simply ARCO and no doubt those of you out there half my age probably never knew the derivation of ARCO, actually quite simply the abbreviation of the full name.
The smaller bag is the one with which more collectors are familiar (in fact, growing up with the fair and collecting long before I became a seller 42!!!years ago, I don't recall ever seeing this ARCO/Richfield bag. I had the little one during the fair and have no recollection what it cost but my parents were incredibly kind and I came away from the 1962 fair, turning 11 just before it closed in the fall, with a pretty special collection of souvenirs, not to mention my already blossoming collection of tickets and ticket stubs. I often walked the grounds looking down, not somber, just the opposite--scrounging to find a dropped or discarded ticket or stub.
These two bags for one bid. It's not a giveaway price because the larger Richfield one is so very scarce--but I believe the price is quite reasonable and were I on the collector side of the table I can say without a doubt that I'd purchase the pair. In fact, I did purchase the pair separately this year! Thanks for looking and remember, we are dedicated to world's fairs and very knowledgeable about our favorite two--the Century 21 Exposition that I grew up with and never quit loving it, and the World's Columbian Exposition, which as a historian and author I became enamored of in the late 1970s. I've never let up, either; my THIRD book about the WCE will be published at the end of the year.
